The conversation must be publicly shared. Click the share button in ChatGPT, choose "Share to public link," and paste that URL.

What happens next: We fetch your public ChatGPT share page, extract the conversation, and format it as a clean PDF with proper code blocks and styling. Nothing is stored on our servers.

How it works

1

Get the ChatGPT share link

In ChatGPT, click the Share button on any conversation. Set visibility to 'Anyone with the link can view' and copy the URL.

2

Paste it above

Drop the share URL into the input and click Convert. We fetch the conversation via ChatGPT's public share endpoint.

3

Get a clean PDF with code blocks, math, tables, and lists all preserved. Or download as Markdown for note apps.

How do I save a ChatGPT conversation as PDF?

Open the ChatGPT conversation you want to save, click the Share button in the top right of the conversation, set visibility to 'Anyone with the link can view', and copy the URL. Paste that URL into the box above and click Convert. The PDF downloads within 30 seconds — code blocks in monospace font, math equations preserved, tables and lists intact.

Can I save any ChatGPT conversation?

Public share links work — that's any conversation you've shared via ChatGPT's Share button. Your own private conversations work the same way: just open the conversation, click Share, set to public, copy the URL, paste above. The conversation becomes a clean PDF in seconds.

Why save ChatGPT conversations in 2026

Four consistent reasons. Permanence. ChatGPT's history is fragile — account deletions, model updates, OpenAI policy changes can wipe conversations overnight. A PDF on your hard drive survives everything. Sharing. Forwarding a share link requires the recipient to have a ChatGPT account and the link to stay valid. A PDF opens anywhere — phone, email, print, archive. Search. Your exported archive is searchable forever with `Ctrl+F`. Build a personal knowledge base of solved problems, research notes, and creative writing prompts. Compliance. Many companies need to retain AI-generated work for audit trails. Local PDF copies on controlled storage satisfy most regulatory requirements.

What gets preserved in the PDF

All text content: user messages, assistant responses, system instructions (when visible), conversation title, timestamp. Code blocks: monospace font, syntax-aware coloring, language labels when present (Python, JavaScript, etc.). Long code blocks paginate cleanly with line continuation. Math equations: LaTeX-style formulas render with proper symbols. Inline math stays inline; block equations center on the page. Tables: original Markdown table formatting preserved. Headers, alignment, column widths all match the source. Lists: ordered and unordered lists with proper indentation. Nested lists up to 4 levels deep render correctly. What doesn't survive: uploaded images (we reference them by URL but don't embed), voice messages (only the transcript is saved), custom GPTs' custom instructions (only the visible conversation is captured).

Privacy and how we handle your data

ChatGPT share URLs are fetched via ChatGPT's public share endpoint — same data the link already exposes. We don't log URLs. We don't store conversation content. We don't require account creation. When you paste a share link, we fetch the conversation and generate the PDF in your browser. The PDF never lands on our server — it's generated client-side and downloaded directly to your device. If you're exporting a private conversation, the only step is making the share link public temporarily. After you download the PDF, you can revoke the share link from ChatGPT's Shared Links section if you want extra privacy.

Does this work with ChatGPT Plus conversations?

Yes — ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise all support the Share button. The share link exposes the conversation regardless of plan tier. For Enterprise users, check your company's policy on sharing internal conversations externally; the share link is publicly accessible to anyone who has the URL.

Can I export as Markdown or Word instead?

Yes — same tool, multiple formats. PDF for printing and sharing, Markdown for note-taking apps (Obsidian, Notion, DevonThink) and AI workflows, Word (DOCX) for editing in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. All three preserve code blocks, math, tables, and lists.

What about very long conversations?

Long conversations (100+ messages) just produce longer PDFs with automatic page breaks. We've tested with 200+ message threads and they render correctly. If your conversation is exceptionally long (1000+ messages), consider splitting into multiple exports by sharing different ranges.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. No signup, no payment, no daily limits. May add an optional Pro tier for batch export later, but single-conversation export stays free forever.

Do I need to share the conversation publicly?

Yes — the share link needs to be public for our tool to fetch it via ChatGPT's share endpoint. You can revoke the link after downloading if you want.

Are code blocks preserved?

Yes — code blocks render in monospace font with syntax-aware coloring. Long blocks paginate cleanly.

Are math equations preserved?

Yes — LaTeX-style equations render with proper symbols. Both inline math and block equations are supported.

Can I export very long conversations?

Yes — tested with 200+ message threads. The PDF just gets longer with proper page breaks.

What if my conversation has uploaded images?

Image URLs are referenced in the PDF but not embedded. For full image preservation, take screenshots and add them to the PDF manually.
